I said this on my Instagram page once, this is the one group am getting to enjoy, my book club people, and if am being honest there is major growth. June book of the month was The Tattooist of Auschwitz. For a book that wasn’t thick, we sure did have a lot to say on it.
There are some graphic scenes that are a little dark. This book stands out from other Holocaust related novels. It is an emotional read.
The Nazi guards are monsters, they kill and hurt human beings. Lale(who is the tattooist) was determined to survive. This is a terrible story but it also is a story of hope and courage.
It’s one sad book and for person to bring out a positive point on it, one is left thinking ”it wasn’t remorseful after all,I just had to view it from a different angle’‘ there’s something good out it,thanks to other people’s perspective which changes how one resonated with the book.
Let’s get to the fun part, books and ice cream cake. I don’t know about you but having a treat after a book discussion feels like a reward I mean ‘here, you’ve done a good job reading a book, you might as well get something yummy.’
Coldstone Creamery took care of that, and for some reason, I want to worship them but the man above would be pissed.
The chocolate confection detection is on another level TRUST ME, bonus points since its an ice-cream cake. Thank you! @coldstonecreamerykenya, for taking care of everyone’s sweet tooth and hosting us.
I hope to see you at the meet for those missed *wink emoji *. I would highly recommend The Tattooist of Auschwitz.
