Well, pretty much delaying doing these book reviews but here I am. Of course my hopeless romantic self went ahead and grabbed Tucker's book, why a Tucker? cause I loved the Simple Wild.
About the book
I was excited diving into it, I mean duh, its K.A tucker . We are at first taken about a decade back in Piper Calloway's time at summer camp. A sweet love story between Kyle and Piper since they met at camp Wawa that goes on even after losing touch since they can't get over each other. The huge social status difference does not stop the two's exploding feelings for each other, till rich daddy's girl(piper) comes in between. After summer camp Kyle is off the face of the earth till thirteen years later a familiar face ends up working at Piper Calloway's building as a guard. We read the book from Piper's point of view, both Piper and the reader(us) we have some secrets to learn that happened at camp Wawa.
My take on the book.
When I read the blurb I was excited to get the book, plus a bonus it was K.A Tucker we are talking about so I was aboard. Unfortunately, it was the exact opposite, what really didn't work for me was the back and forth from sixteen year old piper to the twenty nine year old one. This was just excruciating long, either that or there was a better way to narrate the two timelines. I wanted my attention to be grabbed by this book but the whole time reading my mind was whirling around the lines ''Am I almost done?''.
The only thing that kept me going was dying to know how things ended up between Kyle and Piper. The story line is good but I feel if it was narrated better, it would have blown my mind. I went for a romance to get out of a slump but this didn't help at all, I'll just for a thriller book.
My rating: 3.7
