I did judge the book by its cover or rather by its title ‘two can keep a secret if one is dead’ was a theme song for pretty little liars I only read it in hopes that were no similar vibes, unfortunately the vibes were spotted.
About The Book;
Echo ridge is a small town in Vermont that had two cases of a missing girl and another murdered mysteriously. Five years later a similar case comes up.
Ellery and her twin brother Ezra have to leave their California home and move to Echo Ridge, to live with their grandma.
despite the fact that their mother grew up there, and was even crowned homecoming queen. But that night, their aunt (their mother’s twin sister) disappeared and was never seen or heard from again.
Ellery has an investigative mind and she’s the curious type too so the moments she lands in Echo ridge she wants to get the bottom of it.
What was intriguing:
The writer used Ellery’s paranoia and made it believable, making a reader think that somewhat we are close to the truth till her theories go down hill and just like that we are back to scratch.
Every time I was getting close to finishing up the book I kept thinking ”can it not end in suspence, can it not be an upcoming sequel cause I’m not ready for the felling of disturbance or anxiety” So yes, it gets quite intense which makes the read interesting.
The off section in the book:
Remember pretty little liars (for those who watched) where the killer would leave freaky messages in order to scare the victims, in the book there are several scenes that match which did put me off MAJOR put off.
I felt like we would do without some characters, I had and episode where I’d literally ask out loud “who’s Kylie again? or Theo?”
It was an okay read. Mostly the ending made me give it a thumbs up, I was left asking ”why?” which fyi has been my cup of tea
